Course Outcomes & Learning Objectives

  • Identify the conservative and esthetic approach of using direct resin to create proportional and symmetrical peg laterals.
  • Follow a step-by-step procedure to master the transformation of a resin peg lateral into an esthetic and symmetrical lateral.
  • Demonstrate proper tooth preparation techniques and correct isolation methods.
  • Learn the sequential layering process with various shades of composite resin and tints.
  • Acquire skills in achieving correct contours, line angles and primary and secondary anatomy for an esthetic outcome.

Anterior Six Tooth Esthetic model, Custom Peg Lateral Prep, Allen key for removal of teeth, Matrix Impression Material,  Dental Adhesive, Dappen Dish, Microbrush, Composite Brush, Universal Restorative Composite (various shades), Tint; Opaquer; Composite blending resin; Composite Instruments (2); All Surface Access Polishers, Diamond Bur, Mandrel, Finishing and Polishing Discs; Polishing Paste, Polishing Wheel and Impression mixing tips.

Each participant should have the following items available for the course: Impression Gun (1:1 DS 50), Composite Compule Dispenser, Explorer, High-Speed Handpiece, Slow Speed Handpiece, Air/Water Syringe, Curing Light, Gauze, Alcohol, Pencil, Magnification Loupes, Cotton Plier, Teflon Tape, Full Tofflemire Band

Dimple Desai (DDS, AACD)

Dr. Dimple Desai is a Cosmetic Dentist practicing in Newport Beach, CA. She is the founder of Luminous Smiles - a boutique dental practice focusing on rejuvenating patient’s lives through their smile. Dr. Desai received her Doctorate in Dental surgery from the University of Southern California in 2008 and was selected to become a member of the national dental society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. Dr. Desai returned to her Alma Mater in 2018 to serve as a Clinical Adjunct Professor until 2020.
