Endodontists increasingly rely on CBCT imaging to diagnose complex pathology, identify missed anatomy, and guide treatment planning. However, access to 3D imaging alone does not guarantee better diagnostic outcomes. One of the greatest limitations in CBCT interpretation is often not image quality but human perception.

The reality is simple: clinicians frequently miss important findings not because the pathology is invisible, but because they do not know what to look for.

This webinar explores ten commonly overlooked CBCT findings that can significantly impact diagnosis, treatment planning, and clinical outcomes in endodontic practice. Through real-world cases and practical examples, participants will gain insight into how cognitive bias, satisfaction-of-search, incomplete imaging protocols, and limited pattern recognition contribute to diagnostic errors.

Special emphasis will be placed on subtle radiographic findings that are frequently missed during routine CBCT interpretation, including hidden canal anatomy, early periapical disease, occult carious lesions, non-endodontic mimickers, resorptive defects, cemental tears, and incidental findings that may alter clinical management.

Participants will leave with a practical, systematic framework for CBCT interpretation to reduce missed diagnoses, improve diagnostic confidence, and enhance decision-making in complex endodontic cases.

• Identify ten commonly missed CBCT findings in endodontic practice, including occult caries, subtle periapical pathology, and overlooked anatomical complexities that contribute to diagnostic errors.
• Distinguish true endodontic disease from non-endodontic radiographic mimickers by recognizing key CBCT features of lesions that can simulate pulpal or periapical pathology.
• Apply advanced CBCT interpretation strategies to detect complex pathologies such as cemental tears and root resorption in order to improve diagnosis, treatment planning, and patient outcomes.
